Molasses is a residual flow that is released during the production of granulated sugar from sugar beet. The sugar juice obtained by extraction is purified and evaporated until the sugar crystallizes. The sugar crystals are separated from the juice by centrifugation. The remaining viscous liquid is the molasses. The molasses can be used to support the microbiology in water purification by adding extra energy in the form of sugar.
